Youth work at North East Sport

North East Sport is more than a football club. We’re here for Sunderland’s young people, week in, week out, and the youth side is where that shows most. Sport is often the way in. What keeps young people coming back is somewhere safe to be, adults who know their names, and a job to do.

What we run

  • Youth clubs: safe places for young people to meet, learn and grow.
  • Turn up and play sessions: drop in sport for anyone who fancies a game.
  • Esports: competitive gaming and digital skills.
  • HAF programmes: holiday activities and food, keeping young people active through the school breaks.
  • One to one mentoring: support and guidance for the young people who need it.
  • Volunteering: a role, a bit of responsibility, and something for the CV.
  • Social action projects: young people making a difference where they live.
  • Culture and heritage trips: getting out and seeing our own history.
  • Adventurous outdoors: hiking, camping and kayaking.
  • Cooking projects: healthy eating and cooking skills.

We’ve got some brilliant funders because we do what we say we’ll do. If you can help us keep going, get in touch: support@northeastsport.co.uk

Being there for the whole community

When Covid hit, more than forty of our volunteers stepped up for the neighbours who needed it most. We did the shopping, collected prescriptions, kept gardens tidy, walked dogs and cooked meals. Nobody asked us to. It’s what you do.

The crisis has passed, and the habit hasn’t. We still do weekly check ins, help with shopping, and offer a listening ear. Gardening, litter picking, corporate volunteer days, coastal walks: you name it, we do it.

Thank you to every volunteer who makes that possible.
