Founded in 2009 by Peter Curtis, North East Sport has experienced remarkable growth and has established itself as one of the largest grassroots football clubs in the North East of England. With a strong commitment to inclusivity and providing opportunities for players of all ages and abilities, we have been proud to have had 30 teams competing in various age groups, ranging from under 6s to two adult football teams within the Russell Foster League and Durham FA Leagues.
However, like many football clubs, we faced challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of the pandemic necessitated a pause in our operations, and as a result, we are currently in the process of rebuilding our club. We are focused on revitalizing our teams, engaging with players, and attracting new members to once again build a strong and thriving football community.
As we rebuild, our commitment to inclusivity and providing opportunities for players remains steadfast. We are eager to welcome individuals of all backgrounds and abilities to join our club, as we believe that football should be accessible to everyone. Our goal is to create a supportive and nurturing environment where players can develop their skills, form lasting friendships, and enjoy the beautiful game.
While the challenges presented by the pandemic have been significant, we are optimistic about the future and dedicated to regaining our strength as a football club. With the support of our dedicated volunteers and the resilience of our members, we are confident that we will once again thrive and continue to make a positive impact in the local football community.
North East Sport remains committed to our values of inclusivity, respect, and the joy of the game. We look forward to the opportunity to rebuild and provide memorable football experiences for players and supporters alike.

Our Expectations
- Always play my best for the benefit of the team.
- Play fairly and be friendly (if I hurt someone by accident to see if they are okay/help them up)
- Play by the rules and respect the Referee at all times
- Shake hands with the other team and say “well played” – regardless of the score or the oppositions attitude
- Listen carefully to what my coach tells me and respect the coach at all times
- Understand that football is a team sport and the coach has to do what is best for the team even if that means I have to be substitute or play out of position
- Never purposely hurt a member of the opposition or my own team / never use bad language while at football
- Be glorious in victory as well as defeat
- Encourage my team mates
- Play on the team that you are given no arguing, a lot of the time a coach will make up the teams for the benefit of the players.
- Always positive #Positiveteamlearning
- We ask that you respect and support your teams manager(s) and referees at all times and encourage your child to do the same. The coach does not get paid for managing a team, the referees in most games will be under the age of 16.
- When playing matches at centralised venues such as Temple park, parents must follow league rules and not enter the 3G pitches. Parents must stand behind the fenced area during matches and only the coach and first aider is allowed on the pitch side.
- Parents must behave in an acceptable manner during matches. This is childrens football and is all about fun and development for the players. Do NOT engage in abusive or offensive behaviour or you will be asked to leave the club.
- Celebrate all efforts and good play from both sides
- Do not criticise mistakes offer encouragement and to try again next time
- Do not interfere with the coach’s instructions during matches or training, this can become very confusing for the players
- Try to support the team and coaches by attending as many training sessions as possible, be committed.
- Support the team as must as possible during fundraising efforts be part of the team.
- Respect everyone in the game especially the referees (many of them are under the age of 16) and encourage your players to do so
- Always encourage good behaviour and fair play (shaking the other teams hand at the end of matches, helping up injured opposition)
- Do not engage in abusive or offensive behaviour of any kind
- Celebrate good play from the opposition as well as your own team
- Place the safety and well being of the children above everything else
- Be glorious in victory as well as defeat
- Be positive #Positiveteamlearning

Football Bank
What is the Football Bank?
Football bank is something that we have thought about for quite a while. The principle is simple; to collect old football boots, clean them up and give them away to people who not fortunate enough to have football boots. It is another way of us being able to give back as a club and throughout the organisation we have a strong ethos of helping people and communities and very much believe it is part of our make up to do so. Some football boots could also be resold to help with this micro business to cover costs such as washing and cleaning materials and postage for items. We also aim to go out into the community and run football classes for children and these boots will definitely come in useful.
Who Runs Football Bank?
Adam loved the idea of football bank and decided he was going to run this for the benefit of the community. Adam is a young volunteer for North East Sport and a person who really wants to make a real difference. We have given full control to Adam to lead this project and we will support him all the way.
Where can I drop off old football boots?
We are accepting donations of football boots at Monkwearmouth Academy (SR6 8LG) on a Saturday morning 10:00-12:00 the boots can be dropped off at the blue container next to the school field.
