Match report
A frenetic start saw both teams score in the first two minutes, with George breaking forward with intent in the 1st minute to place a great inside foot shot into the bottom corner. George then grabbed his second in the 6th minute with a powerful shot from just inside the box. Bournmoor attacked to get back into the game, but our GK and defenders held strong. George was able to complete his first ever hattrick in the 9th minute with another powerful bottom-corner strike, and was unlucky not to grab a fourth after he hit the post.
The game evened-out for a short while and just when you thought the half was coming to a quiet end…Noel burst forward from the right…dribbled past two or three players…got into the box…steadied himself…and put a lovely inside foot shot into the bottom corner. Well done, Noel.
The intensity carried over nicely from the first half, with a first few minutes seeing both teams taking shots at goal. The pressure applied by the Demons paid off in the 19th minute after Ben was able to muscle into the box with the ball, and supply George with a cheeky assist for what would be his fourth and final goal of the game Not to be deterred, Ben burst through on goal from the halfway line, holding off the defender, getting into the box, and sliding a lovely shot past their GK.
Six goals…surely that’s enough…not for Arthur. The young man showed great desire to get into the box from his defensive position, following up on a shot from Noel with a well taken rebound finish into the bottom corner.
Again, a great half of football. Elijah let loose with a few booming kicks from his hands. Noel, Arthur were resolute in defence. George dominated the midfield, and Ben built upon last week’s great performance.
Our MOTM winners today were George for his all-round performance (10-out-of-10 from Phil Smith of the Sunderland Echo), and Noel for both his tackling and clever wing-play. Well done boys.
Thank you to Bournmoor Pathbreakers for a great game of football.
A final thanks to friends and family that came to support the team.
Well done Demons, keep it up!
