We’re starting new football teams for children in Years 5 and 6 in Sunderland, and it all begins with a free Wednesday training session after half term.
From Wednesday 4 November, we’ll be in the sports hall at Monkwearmouth Academy every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm. The session is free and it’s open to any child in Year 5 or Year 6 who wants to play, whether they’ve been in a team before or never played outside the back garden.
The Wednesday session is how the teams will come together. Children train with our coaches, get to know each other, and the squads grow out of that. Once the teams are up and running, they’ll play matches on Saturdays.
Why are we doing this? Years 5 and 6 is a big age. Lots of children want to be part of a team by then, and not all of them have found one. We want there to be a place for them at Monkwearmouth, week in, week out. That’s what we’ve been doing in Sunderland since 2008, and North East Sport Youth FC is an FA Accredited club.
If your child would like to be involved, please register your interest so we know who’s coming and can plan the teams:
