We are seeking a dedicated self-employed Sports Coach to join our team and deliver high-quality, fun, and engaging sports sessions to children across the city. About the Opportunity

  • Job Title: Part-Time Sports Coach (PE & Football) – Self-Employed
  • Location: Sunderland, UK
  • Contract: Self-Employed
  • Hours: Variable part-time hours, initially up to 12 hours per week with significant scope for more.
  • Pay Rate: £20.00 per hour

Role 1: Primary School PE & Sports Coach

This role is perfect for a coach who excels in a school environment, delivering engaging PE lessons and fun after-school clubs.

  • Location: A primary school in Sunderland.
  • Schedule: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM (during term time).
  • Age Group: Primary school children (ages 4-11).
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Delivering fun, safe, and inclusive PE and sports sessions.
    • Managing class behaviour effectively.
    • Setting up and packing away equipment.
    • Running a daily after-school multi-sports club.

Role 2: Community Football Coach

This role is ideal for a passionate football coach who wants to lead and develop players in our popular community sessions.

  • Location: Monkwearmouth Academy, Sunderland. SR6 8LG
  • Schedule: Evening sessions, primarily covering 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM slots, with some 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM sessions also available. Hours are variable.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Planning and delivering structured football coaching sessions.
    • Developing players’ skills, technique, and understanding of the game.
    • (There is significant potential to increase coaching hours in this role for the right candidate.)

Combined Role (PE & Football Coach)

We warmly welcome applications from candidates interested in taking on both roles for a more comprehensive coaching position.

Please Note: For the combined role, having your own transport is essential due to the need to travel between the primary school (finishing at 4:30 PM) and Monkwearmouth Academy (starting at 5:00 PM).

What We Are Looking For

We’re looking for a true role model who is passionate about youth development. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience coaching and working with children aged 4-11.
  • A recognised NGB Level 1 (or higher) coaching qualification in at least one sport.
  • A genuine passion for sports and physical education.
  • A reliable, punctual, and professional attitude.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or be willing to obtain one).
  • A First Aid certificate (desirable).
  • Safeguarding Training (desirable).
