Many young people are concerned about the impact of the cost of living crisis on their employment opportunities. Recent polling by UK Youth found that 76% of young people are worried about the future of the job market.
NE Sport, a youth organisation established in 2009, recognises the importance of providing young people with hope and opportunities, particularly during times of crisis. We believe that all young people should have access to safe spaces where they can gather, socialise, and engage in activities that interest them, without fear of judgement or harm.
Our organisation was founded in response to the banking crisis of 2008, which had a significant impact on the employment prospects of young people. NE Sport was created to give young people hope and to provide them with opportunities to develop new skills and interests.
Over the years, we have seen first-hand the positive impact that safe spaces can have on young people’s emotional and social development. A safe space is a physical or virtual environment where young people can express themselves freely and be supported by peers and trusted adults. These spaces provide a sense of community and belonging, which is important for young people’s overall wellbeing.
However, we recognise that the cost of living crisis is creating new challenges for young people, including limited employment opportunities and financial insecurity. As an organisation, we are committed to working with young people to overcome these challenges and to support them in achieving their goals.
Through our Youth Participation Plan, we provide young people with the opportunity to express their views and ideas, which are taken into account in our decision-making processes. We also invest in our staff, ensuring that they have the skills and qualifications necessary to support young people in overcoming any barriers to participation.
We understand that the cost of living crisis is having a significant impact on young people, and we are committed to doing everything we can to support them. By providing safe spaces and opportunities for young people to develop new skills and interests, we hope to give them hope and a sense of purpose for the future.
