11+ Holiday Activities Join us this school holiday! Beat the boredom, get active, have fun and make friends.

Great news! We are pleased to announce that we are participating in the Holiday Activity and Food Programme with Together for Children for the winter holidays!

After some feedback sessions with the young people who attended in the summer we have decided to run Futsal based activity days over the winter.

What is Futsal I hear you ask?

Futsal is a variant of football that is primarily played indoors. It’s a fast paced, skill-oriented game that has gained popularity world wide, with footballing maestros such as  Pelé, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo crediting futsal with developing their skills.

A great way to improve fitness in the winter months with dynamic games and energetic pumping music.

Come and join us, work up a sweat, have fun and make new friends.

All sessions include a free nutritious breakfast and a hot healthy lunch.

Menus for the hot meals are situated below.

What do you do during the camp?
This time we are basing the sessions around Futsal.
Futsal is a variant football that is primarily played indoors. It’s a fast-paced, skill-oriented game that has gained popularity worldwide, both for its exciting gameplay and its utility in developing skills for traditional football. Here are some key aspects of futsal:
Playing Surface and Size: Futsal is typically played on a hard, flat indoor surface. The pitch is smaller than a regular football field, usually around the size of a basketball court.
Team Size: Each team has five players on the pitch, including the goalkeeper. This smaller team size, compared to the 11 players in traditional football, leads to more touches on the ball for each player and increased involvement in the game.
Ball: A futsal ball is smaller and has less bounce than a standard football, which suits the indoor playing surface and encourages better ball control and technical skills.
Match Duration: A standard futsal match consists of two halves, each lasting 20 minutes, with a running clock that stops for dead-ball situations, similar to basketball. This results in a fast-paced game with limited downtime.
Rules: Futsal has some unique rules that differentiate it from traditional football. For instance, the game uses a kick-in instead of a throw-in when the ball goes out of play on the sidelines. There are also specific goalkeeper restrictions, such as a rule that prevents goalkeepers from throwing the ball directly into the opponent’s penalty area.
Focus on Skill and Technique: The smaller playing area and the characteristics of the ball in futsal place a high emphasis on ball control, quick thinking, and precise passing. This makes futsal an excellent tool for developing football skills, especially in younger players.
Popularity and Influence: Futsal is popular in countries like Brazil, Spain, and Portugal, where it is played both recreationally and competitively. Many famous footballers, including Pelé, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo, played futsal in their youth, which contributed to their skill development.
