Make A Difference, Make it North East Sport
North East Sport currently delivers healthy activities to over 4000 children a week, working in schools and communities delivering PE and sports.
On November 5th 2009 North East Sport was born a not for profit social enterprise with a mission statement to Make A Difference to people’s lives.
North East Sport have won multiple awards for their work in the community including Durham County FA Respect and Fair Play Award winners and recognition from the Barclays Premier League. North East Sport have also been shortlisted for the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards in 2015.
We have also ran several projects with funding from various organisations such as the Big Lottery, The Football Foundation, and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
We are also grateful for the support we receive from many of the wonderful businesses that are based in our local area.
Our football club, North East Sport Youth FC, now has over 450 members and is one of the largest clubs in the North East with a total of 30 football teams, including a girl’s football team. In June 2015 we achieved Development Charter Standard status and have become a Nike Partnership Club.
Beach Schools North East, is a pioneering, dynamic part of our organisation which encourages people to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful coastline we have in the North East, while also improving their physical and mental health and wellbeing. Over the past two years we have ran highly successful holiday camps which have received support from Sunderland City Council.
North East Sport is run by its founder Peter Curtis and Director Lindsay Williams both are passionate about the community and making sure that everything is 100% right. North East Sport has a committee of 5 local volunteers, 6 employed staff, 10 sessional workers and over 80 volunteers.
